Did you know that...

Do you know that you can sail from the Baltic Sea to the North Sea not only by the Danish straits, but also by the Kiel Canal?

The Kiel Canal is 98 637 meters long and 102 meters wide. At the both ends of the canal there are large sluices, which provide the way for 200 meters long ships. At the canal there are 10 very high railway and car bridges that allow ships of 40 meters height. Thanks to the canal, there is no need to sail round the whole Jutland Peninsula, what efficiently shortens the paths from e.g. Gdynia to Amsterdam.
